Guideline for The Diagnosis and Management of Acute Bacterial Sinusitis

The above recommendations are systematically developed statements to assist practitioner and patient decisions about appropriate health care for specific clinical circumstances. They should be used as an adjunct to sound clinical decision making. This clinical practice guideline was developed by an Alberta Clinical Practice Guideline working group. This guideline does not apply to the following patients: • Less than 6 weeks old • Immunocompromised or severe underlying systemic disease e.g., cystic fibrosis • Complications of acute bacterial sinusitis • Hospital acquired sinusitis
